Best places along the bank to watch the race!

The Boat Race has made a list of the best pubs you can watch from on Saturday. For the last five years, the pubs in Putney have gotten together to reduce plastic waste, serving takeaway pints in reusable rather than single plastic cups.

Fulham Fan Park

The Boat Race 2023 - Fan Park Overview Fulham

The Fulham Fan Park has been named by The Boat Race as the best place to watch –  big screens will be available for everyone to watch the BBC coverage live, as well as the stretch you’ll see from the park itself. There will be options for street food and Chapel Down, the Official Boat Race Celebration Partner will be serving English Sparking Wine.

The park is located at the very start of The Boat Race course.

Along the river bank

Putney Bridge

Get the best views of the start from Putney Bridge, where you’ll be able to see the crews disappear round the Fulham bend, before heading to Bishop’s Park to watch the rest on TV.

Putney Embankment – south side

There are plenty of rowing clubs along this stretch of the river, many of which will be offering tickets on the door. The path runs right up to Hammersmith Bridge, although you may have your view obscured by a couple of bushes…

Fulham Reach – north side

Just before Hammersmith Bridge you’ll find Fulham Reach BC, with plenty of space on the Thames Path for spectators. The Blue Boat pub next door is on hand to offer refreshments while you watch the boats power by.

Chiswick Pier – north side

Situated by the infamous Surrey Bend, could this stretch of the course be where the decisive move is made? Locate yourself here on Boat Race day and you’ll get a great view of the course and possibly see where one of the crews really puts the hammer down.

Remember – Hammersmith Bridge and Barnes Bridge will close at 10:00 and reopen at 17:00!
